Hello! My name is Shelley Dewig, and though I do not work at WUEV I am very close to those who do work there including Erik Hemenway, Monte Skelton, Andy Gillespie, Eric Lund and Ben Sperry. These fine people work EXTREMELY hard in putting together the programming for their respective time slots in order to bring the Evansville area a station worth listening to. When you listen to WUEV, you are not bombarded with cheap commercial advertisements. You hear advertisements for the University of Evansville, an institution founded upon the principles of "civic mission[s]" and the idea of "sacred trust". Selling WUEV would be going against these ideas upon which UE is founded. What other station could one listen to that brings children's programming? What other station broadcasts Otters baseball and Division I sports? One would say that 94.9 FM broadcasts these sports, but they do not broadcast them with the energy and the obvious love for the sport as WUEV does. I am simply amazed every time I listen to that station of how so many different types of music can be put together in one station, and it's a college station at that! Never have I heard of such different types of programming on one station. If WUEV is sold to the highest bidder, yet another fine college institution will be lost forever. Please do not let this chance to save something worth saving go by. Let WUEV continue being the wonderful radio station that it is. Let the wonderful people that work there keep working there as for many of them it has always been their dream to work at a radio station. Only when UE decides to keep its wonderful radio station can it truly uphold its ideal of "civic mission".
