As a WUEV alumni and a member of the local Evansville media, I am very disturbed to hear about the considerations to sell the station. I graduated with a degree in creative writing, and my work at WUEV allowed me to combine my love of writing with an exciting, practical career in broadcast. I was music director at WUEV for 2 years, and I learned so many things that couldn't be taught in a classroom. I learned responsibility and how to manage others. I also learned practical applications of holding down a real job and experienced a taste of what being part of the larger working world is like.

The station is an important learning tool, and you should be looking for ways to expand it instead of selling it off. So many university students hit the street after graduation without experiencing anything practical about what they learned. WUEV is one of just a handful of programs I can think of at UE that set it apart from other schools in this respect (You could probably add the engineering co-op program and the Crescent to this list). I would hate to see that short list dwindle even further. If you're thinking about getting rid of the radio station, why not get rid of that much acclaimed engineering co-op program? Of course I'm being facetious. You wouldn't dump the engineering co-op program, and you shouldn't dump WUEV.

Thank you very much for your time.
