| Hannah Daniel Concerning the sale of WUEV: While additional funds may be generated in the sale of WUEV for the benefit of the University of Evansville, which could potentially reduce costs across campus, how much of a reduction is possible and how greatly will it benefit the average UE student? Also, WUEV currently employs both work-study and non-work-study students to my understanding. While not a tremendous cash flow, this supplemental income does assist a number of students on campus. Potentially, a new UE radio station can cover the men's and women's games as well as employ students. Will the same radio shows still exist? Will it be the same quality of equipment? Will new equipment need to be purchased, and if so, where will the funds for that come from? If they come from the sale of WUEV, how much will be left to truly make an impact on reducing the costs across campus. In no way am I stating that UE should not consider selling the station, nor am I trying to badger in questioning. I sincerely would like to know more information about the situation so I can form a more informed and complete opinion. On a separate, personal note: As I work at WUEV and as WUEV offers live internet feed, it is one of the few opportunities my parents have to listen to me, "watch me work" if you will, while I'm at college as they are over 12 hrs driving distance away. Plus, I love working at WUEV for Rated G, the children's show, regardless of the early Saturday morning hours. Please please don't sell WUEV! |
