| Christina Rheinlander Ms. Dowell, In regards to the loss of WUEV, I will simply ask you to reflect back to your educational experiences as a student...Did you not find that some of your most effective lessons where with the use of "hands on" experience? As a student of communications, I have learned that many of my peers thrive on that same hands on experience. I ask you what purpose, or, more specifically, who's purpose you are trying to serve by selling this station? Quite frankly, in my opinion, it doesn't appear to be the purpose of your students. By selling this station, not only will you be depleting a crucial learning tool for your communications department, you will be taking away a safe haven and home to many of your students in general. The University of Evansville has become a staple in our community because of your highly regarded arts, athletics, and academic excellence, all of which are broadcast via your radio station. Listeners from all walks of life, tune in to hear game results, local news and fantastic jazz, all of which you have considered removing. I honestly feel that this would be a large mistake on the Universities part, simply because someone offered to buy this station... I strongly urge you to reconsider selling WUEV, and feel very confident that you will not regret it! Your students, faculty and community will thank you! Sincerely, Christina Rheinlander Evansville, Indiana |
