| Brad Miller Hello, My name is Brad Miller, UE 1980 I was a DJ at WUEV in 1977-1978. I had the first contemporary Christian radio show in Evansville. It was the precursor to "The Light Show" currently on WUEV Sunday afternoons. My experiences as a student staffer on WUEV were very important to my education at UE. Indeed as recently as last year I wrote and recorded a radio commercial played on WIKY in Evansville. Moreover, as an Evansville resident and UE alum I listen to WUEV often, especially for ACES ballgames and Otters games in the summer. More importantly the online streaming of WUEV, especially of ACES games was my lifeline to UE when I lived out the area in recent years. The online streaming of WUEV has to be an important link to the university globally. The above reasons are all personal reasons that I would hate to see WUEV go away and be sold to parties outside the UE community. What is much more important is that selling WUEV would be another step back for UE academically and for her most important mission, the education of her students. The Indianapolis Star reported this week that UE has the greatest decline in student enrollment of all private universities in the state of Indiana. There is a disturbing trend of retreat implied by recent events at UE that have my attention and concern. The mission of UE has to be about the students and their education. plication. This is a value that should be enhanced, not disposed of for short term profit. The mission statement of UE is "Civic Mission - Sacred Trust." WUEV gives a global voice to that mission. Let's not mute our voice. Please be so kind as to pass this message on to people in positions to make decisions. Brad Miller, UE 1980 |
