As a UE student, I lived right across the street from the school. I had no TV and a crappy radio. Said radio could only pick up WUEV clearly. And you know what? That was ok by me! Besides another college radio station (89.1) it is the only non-country, non-gospel, non-bubblegum pop station in Evansville. I like the jazz and alternative shows very much. Although I would not personally miss the basketball games, I know that my dad listens to them all the time. He's a still huge Aces fan even though both of his children who were students are now graduates.

I have questioned UE's spending choices before. The sod for the front oval, the big event, free cable in every dorm. These were not necessary. These are not things in which alumni can take pride. They do not own these things. WUEV belongs to UE and its students. Do not sell it. If you do, what is gained but one more worthless pop radio station that is identical to all others?

If this valuable, student-operated radio station is deemed to be not worth the investment, I do not believe I will be investing any of my future income in UE. I work in fundraising now and I am well-aware that every donor matters, even and especially prospective donors. Although they might not respond as such, I know that you will lose other contributors too. WUEV is important to a lot of alumni and future alumni.

Again, I ask that you do not sell WUEV.
