I received a postcard in the mail last week informing me that Ace Purple had "disappeared." It seems he's "gone into hiding" because he was ashamed that UE alumni don't donate at levels seem by other schools similar to UE?
It gave me pause to consider. Is this what UE does every time it gets cash-strapped? Threaten to take something away in an effort to extort cash from alumni?
First it was DI athletics, then WUEV, now Ace Purple. This fundraising gimmick is getting old and I for one am now embarrassed that I probably fell for it.
Perhaps instead of UE bitching about how little alumni give, they should get to the core of the problem and ask alumni why they don't give and then address their concerns. (Oh, but they couldn't do that because it would force them to take off their rose colored glasses and actually see the school for what it is: disconnected.)
