I think we should start talking about recommendations to save the station money.
After cutting the news wire, I would think the biggest expense would be salaries.
We got paid to work at WUEV, but if people received credit that would save money.
A full time student station manager would save money and engineering students could do the station's engineering.
There are many schools that have stations that do not have full time "professionals".
I guess first things first - get us out of university relations!

Before we start cutting the budget- what could we do to raise the money instead? The University already pays for the Crescent's full time "adult," so having a full time adult for the station should only be par for the course (not to mention that we should probably have one person who is there for more than a few years at a time that knows the operation laws. With the FCC, that would be important. We don't want to get slapped with fines.)
But really, why not see what we can raise. It may be that we can cover the operating budget with several fundraisers to the point where the news could even be brought back.
From what the news outlets are saying, we need to figure out how to get 160k a year. If all 400 people who wrote in letters came up with one good idea that would bring in $400- that would take care of it right there. "Adopt a Watt" (even for $20/watt) selling out could bring in a lot of it, and agressive underwriting could take care of a lot more.
It seems like a lot to fundraise, but it's totally doable, especially when they never said we have to be self-sufficient- just not as expensive.

I am not giving $ until a new direction is defined. Giving $ now is just what they wanted all along.
We need to "assist" the University in how the station is to be run.
As far as I remember, only two entities can raise $ - athtletics and development.
I know Len tried to get a 50th year anniverary party and development project going in 2001. University thumbed their noses at it.
