This is good news, but I remain skeptical. The comment on exploring academic ties is a good one. It should be a no brainer
However, the 2nd item is to be watched, based on past precident. I would not trust either the institutional advancement office or Ms. Dowell as far as they can be thrown. This is a two edged sword, and it seems to be a prove it or lose it scenario. WUEV can and has received help from the community. The institution discouraged it. Legally, every $$$ raised for WUEV or donated has to go to support WUEV, not the school. I wonder if the university even knows that? Perhaps Mr. Crowley should spend more time on WUEV, instead of with the Otters and the commercial station, and thus start beating the bushes for underwriting and membership donations. Let the students do the games and be on the air more.
Lastly, someone mentioned bringing Len back. Considering the current players were involved in forcing him to leave, and the new president did not even get involved, I doubt he will be back. However, Len's ideas need to be brought back, in terms of student involvement on air, and this includes sports. If only the school would realize how much money they are losing on paying for their broadcasts on another station, imagine that money going to support WUEV!

You assume that Len would be willing to return to WUEV. This may be an errant assumption. UE did not treat Len well toward the end of his time at WUEV, as I recall.

Oh, he's not assuming Len will ever be brought back. That would be, well, more insane than he is. It's just Psycho's way of saying they won't get his money. ;)

If and ONLY if my money goes to the station, with Len Clark as station manager, will I ever consider donating to UE. This has been my stance for a long time now.

Considering how close to the brink this came, i wouldn't put the benchmark's too high for assisting the station.
There was some pretty ugly stuff that went down after my graduation-so bad that I asked a former uev staffer now in the Alumni affairs department to take me off the solicitations for $$$$
Being in radio for the last 20 yrz, my financial resources may not be great, but there is a quality high school station in my town that has a lot of potential students, which i would being willing to recruit.

You know, one day we all need to make a timeline of all the weird/evil/crappy/odd/funny stuff that's happened over the last 50 years.
Really, there are a lot of somewhat bitter UEV people. I know why *I'm* bitter, but it'd be interesting to see why everyone else is.

Maybe it's because UE Administration is composed almost entirely of salty douchebags?
