| WUEV means service to the community (Gary Zekis) 06 Feb 20:33 EST |
I always felt more than anything that WUEV both supplies its audience with a public service (programming you won't hear anywhere else) and teaches its staff the importance of public service (caring about your audience, your community, putting on a quality product). In this age, when more and more young people are volunteering their time and contributing to the betterment of their communities, the sale of WUEV would be a slap to the face of progress. We need to build and grow connections with our communities, not tear them down. I don't know many other places at UE that can build connections beyond campus lines better than WUEV.
I'm now thinking two things that probably some of you are thinking.
1. I've been away from Evansville too long. 2. Is this how it feels to be a football alumnus?

In regards to the two items you've been thinking, I agree with the first. As for the second, maybe to a degree. The elimination of the football program-that was a fairly dumb move, too: the university is just started to recover from the admission loss after elminating that. Anyway.

It's so neat to see so many friendly faces again here. We should get together for homecoming or something.

'Tis nice to see you involved, Mr. Zekis the First.

We really should. I've missed everyone.

Yeah... I um... missed everyone too...
(shifty eyes)
OKAY! I was an AM 820 ringer! I admit it.
(hangs head in shame)
