FCC (chris allman) 06 Feb 14:23 EST

Does the university know that the community is going to go berzerk with letters to the fcc?

Will that actually do anything?

Probably irritate the FCC if nothing else.

no reallly!!! a letter writing campaign once they close the deal CAN actually snuff it.

If the sale goes through the adminstration, that's only the first step. They have to run announcements on-the air asking for public comment to the FCC.

It's there that people on the ground in Evansville be able to mobilize a letter writing campaign to the FCC.

No one writes letters anymore, so it doesn't take that many to throw up a red flag.

I was under the impression that DJ were NOT allowed to say anything ON AIR regarding the sale so that the community could respond.

anytime a sale of a station is sent to the fcc for approval, the station has to run all these legal disclaimers about public comment to the fcc...

After you posted I was wondering if the FCC had to approve the sale. That is really, really good information to know. I honestly had no idea.

Thanks, Chris.
